Volt, natural gastronomy and tribute to Swedish heritage

Starred since 2015, Volt remains affordable and offers a tasting menu based on recipes of the national culinary heritage, as well as local and natural ingredients.

With raw concrete walls and music from the 1970s and 80s, this restaurant serving 30 patrons looks to be straight from another time. And yet, the menu is quite simple, paying tribute to Swedish gastronomy prepared with local products. In the Östermalm neighbourhood, Volt has taken a natural stance and avoids as much as possible to use processed and industrial food. The ingredients supplied come straight from surrounding fields, forests and seas. Two menus are being offered, with four or six courses, and they change seasonally. Depending on the day when you visit, you may have the chance to try crab with mushrooms, oysters with broad beans and broccoli or yet a corn, horseradish and egg yolk dish – recipes bear no name, only the main ingredients being notified. This cuisine owed the restaurant a Michelin star in 2015, making Volt one of the most affordable gastronomic tables in Stockholm.
