Vivanta by Taj Ambassador: a former colonial-era hotel

Built in 1945, the Ambassador Hotel combines colonial and Art Deco styles alongside gardens lined with palm trees.

Very ‘old school' and a tad out-dated, the Ambassador remains one of the most affordable of the three Vivanta by Taj Indian chain hotels in Delhi.

This one is a favourite with businessmen who like its central location. You can easily visit the city's points of interest from here, such as The Red Fort, the Mughal Emperor's Tomb, Sunder Nagar Market, and Khan Market. The hotel's chic canteen, Yellow Brick Road, is open round the clock.

There are 88 rooms, including 12 suites with balconies overlooking the garden or the courtyard. All are decorated with a dark wood reminiscent of the colonial atmosphere that reigned here for decades. The only downside: the hotel does not have a pool to refresh body and mind.
