Halfway between restaurant and beach, cocktail bar and nighttime concert venue, the Tahiti La Plage hybrid concept is quite seductive, offering postcard-worthy panorama. Located by the wide spreads of black sands in the Sapinus Bay, the restaurant welcomes you with simplicity and elegance. The Sauvages, Thierry and Bénédicte, have radically transformed Le Coco's, their gastronomic restaurant, into a more affordable and environmentally harmonious establishment. Dishes are dictated by the products, often locally and organically sourced with sustainable development in mind. You will always be able to trace the origin of what you eat.
The beach brasserie style is very much spoken for, with bowls, burgers, barbecued meat and fish, as well as the must-try grilled prawns. Give the chipirons à la plancha a try, cooked with garlic and Espelette pepper, then carry on with the sweet and sour Sapinus Burger (homemade bun, fish & chips, roasted pineapple, caramelised shallots, tomatoes, cucumber and wasabi mayo). End the meal with a sweet Coco Bowl consisting in a tropical mix of flambeed banana, coconut mousse, puffed caramel and roasted coconut. In the distance, the sun sets over Moorea and everything feels perfect.
