Stroll from gallery to gallery at Al Quoz

This industrial area has been transformed into a trendy artistic neighbourhood.

Many contemporary art galleries have taken up residence in the Al Quoz industrial district, in the western part of Dubai. As in New York, Berlin, and Chicago before it, in Dubai the hippest galleries, concept stores, and cafés have settled into dormant industrial spaces, attracted by the low prices of these abandoned warehouses.

Pro Art Gallery is among the most important of all Dubai. More than 50 international artists are permanently on display, among which are Chagall, Dufy, Aman, Le Corbusier, Picasso and Banksy. Check out the 1x1 Art Gallery specialised in Indian art located nearby. For fans of comics, The Cartoon Art Gallery, right next door, exhibits the works of cartoonists and illustrators, and organises video screenings of animated films.

Feel free to take a break in a café before moving onwards to Alserkal Avenue, a former marble factory that has hosted more than 30 galleries, studios, and theatres since 2007.
