Street food at the Tsukiji Fish Market

Make the most of a visit to the Tsukiji Fish Market by savouring Japanese specialties in the company of experts.

The closure of the mythical Tsukiji fish market, which opened its doors in 1935, was announced for the fall of 2016. The market moved to Koto due to a lack of space in the Toyosu district. Its new name is Tsukiji Uogashi. To visit the market and to participate in the tuna auction, you have to arrive at 4:00 or 5:00 a.m. Only 120 people are admitted per day, in two groups. After the auction, walk among the stalls of the market, then test the best ramen noodles in the city at Chuka Soba, the tastiest dim sum in the city at Suga Shoten or the famous tamagoyaki—sweet and salty omelettes—at Daisada.
