Sinner, between sin and redemption

In the heart of Paris' Marais neighbourhood, Sinner steps off the beaten path by mixing history, glamour, and mystery.

Something of a mix between a house of worship and pure erotica, the style and decor of the Eyok Group's new five-star hotel breaks the bounds of luxury hotels, without straying into bad taste. From the moment you arrive, a signature scent of warm stones and incense brings to mind the world of the church. Just steps inside, that impression is confirmed with stained glass, a confessional, and multiple altar candles, which create an arcane - almost mystical - ambiance.

But just as quickly, a few secular details and 70's-inspired, festive elements jump out to counter that initial pious impression. In designing this perplexing place, decorator Tristan Auer was inspired by the DNA and the history of the multi-cultural Marais neighbourhood - from the look of the bar, which evokes the area's glamorous air, to the staff uniform, which brings to mind the Knights Templar. After being ceremoniously handed one of the hotel's 43 keys, you will be led down the long, dark, lantern-lit hallways to the door of your room. Here, you will find understated comfort, with velvet curtains, lush carpet, and even (depending on the reservation) a carved four-poster bed. The Sinner seems to invite both sin and redemption… it is up to you to decide!
