‘Picasso: The Artist and His Muses' illuminates the work of the Spanish painter through the prism of a single source of inspiration: women. Fernande Olivier, Olga Khokhlova, Marie-Thérèse Walter, Dora Maar, Françoise Gilot, and Jacqueline Roque were all muses of this master of modernism in the early and mid-20th century in Paris. This show is a surprising and intimate journey through the personality of the women who so influenced the artistic development and career of this Malaga native.
This exhibition, one of the largest ever presented in Vancouver on Pablo Picasso, highlights many motifs that come up repeatedly in Picasso's paintings, drawings, and sculptures—major works that forever changed the course of art history.
