Besides its typical architecture and its streets still marked by medieval ruins, Hyères is turned towards the world of art.
The Villa Noailles, former home of the patron Marie-Laure de Noailles, built by architect Robert Mallet-Stevens in the 1920s and 1930s, was bought and restored by the city. The mansion now houses an art and architecture centre that puts on various arts events throughout the year. Hyères is located in the south of Provence, making it one of the sunniest cities in France. Right off its coast are the three ‘Golden Islands': Porquerolles, Port-Cros and Le Levant.
The city itself, and all of these sublime islands, are not to be missed.
