Located in central Bogota and inaugurated in the mid-1980s, MAMBO is housed in a brick building designed by the renowned Franco-Colombian architect Rogelio Salmona.
If you are interested in contemporary Colombian artists, this is the museum with the most impressive collections of painting and sculpture. Six exhibition rooms present the works of major Colombian artists like Botero, Negret, and Grau, as well as works by Picasso, Dali, Ernst and Warhol. The museum focuses on different forms of visual art (painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, video), from the early 20th century to today, and it has acquired a most perfect collection. A small cinema also shows Latin American art-house films.
Exhibitions change frequently, often honouring Latin American artists and always offering innovative cultural events. You come away with the feeling of having taken another stop along the road to understanding Colombian culture.
