Cycling is a good way to travel in Miami and its surroundings, as there are many cycling paths to choose from. In addition, the sunny climate lends itself to pleasant bike journeys. Several routes are available to you, depending on your endurance and the time you have available.
Start by exploring the Art Deco district of Miami Beach: from the south of the city, go along the waterfront, turn onto Washington Avenue, take Lincoln Avenue and do some shopping or have a coffee. After, go along Meridian Avenue, which takes you back to the southern tip of Miami Beach. Another possibility, for the more intrepid: start at Lincoln Road and get onto the Venetian Causeway by crossing the islands before arriving in downtown Miami. For the most motivated, the path that leads to Virginia Key and Key Biscayne via Rickenbacker is very nice.
If you get tired, Metrorail accepts bikes. Several companies rent bicycles, but there is also a self-service bike system (modelled on Paris' Vélib' programme).
