La Varangue: all the scents of the island

In a charming guesthouse, Magali welcomes you from breakfast until dinner. You will appreciate her subtle cuisine balanced between Malagasy traditions and European influences.

Crossing Magali's garden is an experience in itself. Leave the bustle of Tana behind and let yourself be carried away by the refinement and tranquillity of her home. She retained its original charm and cultivates it further with collections of paintings and antiques. This is why the restaurant is one of the most famous and busiest in the city.

In the morning, businesspeople share coffee and fresh fruit juices on the terrace. At lunchtime, enjoy the view of the garden while dining on a smoked grouper gratin or a sautéed zebu fillet. In the evening you will be treated in a more formal way, seated in the dining room, where you can dive into a duck supreme with cranberries, a fresh tuna tartare in wasabi vinaigrette or a stir-fried dolphinfish. After the caramelised pear pie, you cannot refuse the house cocktail of rum with cinnamon and appreciate its sweetness, in perfect harmony with the night.
