Hotel Santa Teresa: a refuge for celebrities

Hotel Santa Teresa: a refuge for celebrities

Perched in the hills of the same neighbourhood, a discreet hotel serves as a rendezvous point for celebrities in search of romance.

The Santa Teresa's five stars shine on the hills of the district of the same name. Originally an old colonial building on a former coffee plantation, the hotel has regained its lustre thanks to François Delort, who has turned it into a luxury hotel. After four years of work, its 44 elegant suites and rooms combine Brazilian culture and materials (wood and recycled jacaranda) with objects, fabrics, and antique sculptures. Since its opening, many celebrities have stayed here, including Madonna, Amy Winehouse, and Alicia Keys, all of whom stayed in the largest suite-160 square metres-which comes with a telescope for star-gazing. Other areas of the hotel are just as appealing, including the pool and its breath-taking view of the city and the mountains of Teresopolis, the Champagne bar Descasados, the Térèze Restaurant, and a Spa that offers essential oil and natural product-based care.
