At the corner of Geary and Mason Street, this hotel, built in 1909, was home to poet Robert Peterson when he was growing up. Its atmosphere inspired many of his works, as did the clientele of boxers and jazz musicians. Time has passed, and the place has changed, while keeping the feeling of a family guesthouse.
