A limestone island with fairly flat terrain, Grand-Terre has an irresistible asset: its long white sandy beaches with coconut palms and crystal-clear water. More touristy than its sister, it hosts most of the hotels, often located right on the sea, such as on La Caravelle Beach, which is probably the most famous of all.
Located in the small town of Sainte-Anne, it offers a postcard landscape with its pristine sand, palm trees, and shallow-water paradise for swimmers. Equally idyllic, the long beach of Raisins Clairs in Saint-François, is sought after for its shady trees. Its poetic name comes from the seagrape trees (whose fruits look like regular grapes) bordering the beach.
Farther on, at the Pointe des Chateaux, relax on Salines Beach, facing Désirade, or that of Anse at la Gourde, close to the Anse du Mancenillier. In Le Gosier, discover Gosier Island Beach or that of Petit-Havre, which are quiet and sublime, and on the west coast, Anse du Souffleur is a must.
