In Beirut, the Mireille Hayek restaurant is an institution. For its installation in Dubai, she chose the heart of downtown, at the foot of the hotel The Address, opposite the Burj Khalifa and the large fountain. Sit out on the lovely terrace to enjoy the view of these Dubai jewels. Inside, the enchanting decor is dominated by blue, with stylish black-and-white tile flooring. Mirror tables and velvet chairs are accessorised by luxurious Middle Eastern details.
Em Sherif takes the concept that has made it successful in Lebanon: no menu, just one formula of many dishes to be shared by all. The waiters twirl between tables to drop off a string of mezze (hummus, tabbouleh, fatayers, manakish, baba ghanoush, dolma).
Then come the grilled meats (kefta, shishtaouk, shawarma) and, finally, if you still have room, taste the tamriyye and maamoul bi jebneh. With traditional Lebanese songs playing in the background, you will feel that you've flown across the Persian Gulf.
