Cologne's Flora Park, a garden with many influences

Stroll around the Flora Park and Botanical Garden, one of the oldest in Cologne, a true oasis of flowers.

Created in 1863 by Peter Joseph Lenné, the park is a mix of various styles and influences. Find French Baroque elements seen in the flowered squares, Italian Renaissance pergolas and waterfalls flowing over stone beds, and some English gardens as well. Make your way through the rose gardens or look in on the medicinal plants and aromatic herbs among another 10,000 species of plants from around the world.

At the centre of this green immensity of more than 11 hectares stands the glass palace, also known as the Orangery. Nowadays, it houses a restaurant. Built in cast iron and glass, it is inspired by London's Crystal Palace and the Paris Winter Garden. Visit the greenhouses where many exotic and tropical plants flourish. Also attend exhibitions held throughout the year within the park.
