Lodges Balourou: a pioneer in eco-tourism

Close to nature with its impeccable bungalows facing the sea and its tropical garden, this small hotel goes all out!
The beautiful village of Remire-Montjoly, in the green suburbs of Cayenne, is bordered by long sandy beaches. Once a Native American agricultural area, many vestiges of its past remain, including petroglyphs at Crique Pavé and on the hillsides of Montravel, and engraved stones from the pre-Columbian era at the much-visited Habitation Pascaud. Fort Diamant, a listed building constructed in 1849, served as a strategic defence against the Portuguese.
A stay at the Lodge is always relaxing: birdsong and the murmur of waves are the dominant sounds; and the owners are ever friendly and always smiling. The air-conditioned lodges have one or two bedrooms, with kitchenettes and Wi-Fi. All terraces and balconies have nice views of the sea or the mouth of the river.
