An amazing place, despite its central location (close to Piazza Venezia). Once you push through its heavy brown wood doors, you will wonder for a moment if you are not… in Munich! Because except for the angels painted in Italian Renaissance style around the bar, this Roman institution, which dates back more than 100 years, follows the standard codes of a Bavarian brewery: loud, back-slapping friendliness; dark wood panelling and brass fittings; beer aplenty (large selection, with local blondes like the must have Peroni and international specialities), as well as goulash and sausages (local meats only).
The more adventurous order the house speciality, the famous "kilometre" sausage, while others will choose typical Roman dishes listed on the menu, bringing you back to Italy: penne all'arrabiata for starters, lombo affumicato (smoked loin) for main course, with a pannacotta for dessert!
