A studious promenade in the halls of Trinity College

A studious promenade in the halls of Trinity College

The oldest and most prestigious university in Ireland conceals many treasures, including a campus on which you can pretend to be a student for an afternoon.

With no fewer than 19 hectares, you are free to browse the Trinity College campus at your leisure. There are also students who know the campus inside and out, and who provide guided tours. Their historical anecdotes and trivia about the university will make the tour meaningful and fun. End of the match, on the windy college grounds! Enjoy the show, or head to the Old Library where you will find two big surprises.

The first: the Book of Kells, a masterpiece of the art of calligraphy by Celtic monks, whose illuminations seem enchanted! And, the Long Room, your second surprise, which contains every Irish and English book published since the 18th century. The library seems to have materialised from a fairy engraving, or the madness of a magician. The air is redolent with the heady perfume of old parchment and polished woodwork. No chatter! The marble busts of the great figures of human knowledge guard this basilica of learning. Like teachers, their stern expressions suppress the noisiness of errant travellers.
