From 2016, March 16 to May 29, the City of Montpellier offers a world first retrospective at the Pavillon Populaire "Hélène Hoppenot. Le Monde d'Hier, 1933-1956." (The World Of Yesterday).

The shots of Hélène Hoppenot, introducing to travel photography, memoirist and observer of a bygone era, dress the picture rails of space photographic art; an exhibition whose program is unanimous both in the press and the growing audience.
"I have the greatest desire to go to the end of the world and not to stop on the way," said Hélène Hoppenot (1896-1990).

Guatemala to Cambodia through North America, Tunisia and Sicily, more than 160 photographs, small and medium formats, categorized by continent, will be exhibited for the first time during 10 weeks at the Pavillon Populaire in Montpellier. A travel diary published in several volumes, correspondence, six books of pictures in the 1950s, the work of Hélène Hoppenot takes an editorial dimension. When her private work was first presented to the public, it was hailed by the press for its technical quality and originality. Her diary and his letters are read worldwide.
