True to its name, Zum Goldenen Kalb (The Golden Calf) is a paradise for meat lovers. Generous home-cooked dishes are served here, first and foremost being the excellent steaks, served with fries or potato gratin.
Charts depicting various beef cuts adorn the walls to help you identify your favourite portion of cow. The chequered tablecloths on wooden tables make for a warm and welcoming atmosphere, enriched by Galicia tapas and gazpacho.
Groups of six or more can serve themselves directly from the refrigerated cabinets, where expensive longhorn sirloin steaks and wagyu rib-eyes await. The wines, alas, are pricey, too, and served by the glass. Vegetarians however, are not left out; vegetable dishes are also available.
