Ultraviolet by Paul Pairet: astounding

A secret place where haute cuisine goes with music, perfume, and games.

The richest, most mysterious and most beautiful culinary address in Shanghai. After 15 years of looking for backers, French chef Paul Pairet has made his dream come true: a mad, unheard-of, avant-garde gastronomic experience. Once a month, ten people, who share a table, meet in a secret location. There is no telephone number or address.

Register online and the Ultraviolet team gives you a time and meeting spot from which they take you to an unknown address in a large black-lit room. Twenty-two dishes are presented to you in an extraordinary show. Each dish is accompanied by a specially created environment derived from video, music, painting, sculpture… In short, madness.

A film projecting the ebb and flow of ocean waves accompanies a fine fish dish,as a marine fragrance diffuses slowly into the room. Giuseppe Arcimbol do portraits and Picasso still-lifes combine with word games, music ranging from AC/DC to Ennio Morricone, and, of course, divine dishes.

Menu: around 4,000 CNY
