The great American golf-course architect Robert Trent Jones, who designed the Trois-Îlets course in 1976, made the best use of all the natural elements in his design (par 71).
Although it is open to beginners, the course presents a wide range of surprises, such as having to deal with a palm tree in the middle of the course, an arm of the sea, or the wind that makes one's performance on the last holes quite unpredictable.
Driving one's ball so that it passes over the water and lands on the No. 15 green is, at times, something of an achievement. Despite these difficulties, which are soon forgotten at the clubhouse, the views, such as the departure of No. 12, are breath-taking.
