Tradition reigns supreme for the 16 days of Oktoberfest

monument

Oktoberfest is one of the world's greatest festivals, attracting millions of people every year.

The first Saturday of the second half of September starts the world's biggest funfair: the Oktoberfest, Munich's annual beer festival. This giant bash is held in Theresienwiese, an open space in the Munich borough of Ludwigsvorstadt-Isarvorstadt.

The beer is sold in liter mugs in 14 giant tents, as well as more modest enclosures and smaller Biergartens (beer gardens), accompanied by Bavarian orchestras, fairground attractions, and food stalls. The world's biggest popular festival, it was established on October 17, 1810, following the marriage of the future King Ludwig I of Bavaria to Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen.

Every year, as locals and tourists hoist their steins, tradition comes alive under the Ferris wheels, in a cheerful, noisy, and authentic atmosphere. Prost !
