The Sun Chine: gramophone included

charm

At what hotel in the world can you still find a working gramophone, other than at the otherwise very contemporary Sun Chine?

The hotel has chosen a tune of trendy Belle Époque colonial nostalgia. Its three-storey, red brick building, a former mansion, is located in a quiet alley of the former French concession, close to the Jingan Temple. A vintage bike is parked in front in many of the hotel's advertisements. The lobby is furnished with deep black leather sofas, mahogany woodwork, and, in a tribute to the past, a gramophone, which gratifies you with songs of old.

Heavy lace curtains in the corridors, chandeliers, and beautiful banisters in Belle Époque style lead us to cosy rooms furnished in a delightful, old-fashioned manner. Rooms have beautiful bathrooms, including a vintage white bathtub in perfect harmony with the Greek-blue walls. The same colour was chosen for the beautiful indoor pool, which was awarded a well-deserved top prize for best hotel swimming pool design.
