The shimmering silks of the Lázaro Galdiano Museum

art & culture

The Lázaro Galdiano Museum, now public, contains a wonderfully rich collection of art—from Bosch to Goya—and crafts, including fabrics.

The Lázaro Galdiano Museum houses a staggering collection of Hispanic-Muslim fabrics, to which is added a collection of Francisco Goya paintings, drawings, and engravings, and works by Hieronymus Bosch, Cranach the Elder, El Greco, and Bartolomé Esteban Murillo. Make time for the collection's spectacular ‘school of Bosch' dreamscape Visio Tnugdali (1520-1530).

Housed within the walls of the magnificent neo-Renaissance ‘palacio' of Parque Florida, the museum, once one of the world's largest private collections of Spanish art, is now owned by the state.
