After months of work, the somewhat outdated decor of the 339 rooms is now decidedly designer contemporary, with lots of black and white tones and ebony, bold graphic patterns, and walls decorated with chrysanthemums, the official flower of Chicago.
Controlled entirely by touch pads, the rooms are now a virtual playing field for business travellers and tech buffs. With the ‘Tailor-made VIP' program, you can take an exclusive tour of ‘Old Town' or the Chicago Art Institute, or catch a Broadway show. Or just stay cocooned in your sumptuous room, only emerging for High Tea in the huge Art Deco lobby.
At dusk, aperitifs can be sipped in the subdued atmosphere of the bar, or overlooking the glittering skyline on the Shanghai Terrace, one of the best Chinese restaurants in the city.
