The Parque da Cidade: an urban oasis in the heart of the city

Brasília has the largest urban garden in the world, which spreads its green spaces, designed by Roberto Burle Marx, over 420 hectares.

You can explore it on foot, horseback, bicycle, or via skating trails that wind through the Parque da Cidade Sarah Kubitschek, opened in 1978. Located near the TV tower, the park's 420 hectares of green space are right in the heart of the city, and represent perhaps one of the largest urban gardens in the world. Landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx designed it.

On weekends, people flock here to picnic, play sports, or gather around a barbecue. This vast area, created for recreational purposes, also has artificial lakes, several kiosks, cafés, and amusement parks, as well as an equestrian centre.

If you want to escape the hectic pace of the city without leaving the city this urban oasis is for you. Because of its size, many people go there by car, and its 13 parking lots, complete with bars and restaurants, have become meeting points.
