Sergi Arola, former rock musician and disciple of the legendary chef Ferran Adrià, is still a sensation with his eponymous institution, which has two Michelin stars. This smart establishment with wood panelling, white cloths, and long benches, combines originality with Catalan flavours and molecular cuisine.
Besides the standard menu, the restaurant offers three tasting menus: the ‘Discovery' menu of six dishes; the ‘Sergi Arola' menu with nine dishes; and the ‘From madness to madness' menu with 14 dishes.
Among the specialties of the house are scallops bathed in vichyssoise de calçots (Catalan onion) with truffle shavings, and venison prepared with Moroccan spices, chestnuts, and apples. The service is exemplary and the wine list carefully crafted. A jacket is required.
