The Glasshouse: very 70s…

design

The decor is surprising in this old church, which has been renovated and converted into a hotel. Only the stone facade remains in this all-glass building.

On Princes Street, close to the shops and theatres, the Glasshouse hotel fascinates with its original architecture. The facade, Gothic tower, and large stained-glass windows are the only remains of the church. Inside, art and modernity hold sway. Upon entry, the atmosphere evokes the 70s with bright tonic colours around a rhythmic palette of yellow, orange, red, and brown. The decor in the 77 brightly lit rooms is minimalist, with contemporary furniture in rosewood, delicate colours, and 70s-styled lamps. The bathrooms have the same look and feel.
Dinner options include room service or the delicious dishes of the Observatory restaurant, open Tuesday to Saturday. On sunny days, a meal in the garden is a joy… and what happiness there is at teatime!
