The only confirmed data about this site remains the date: it came into being around 900 BC. Nazca is one of the most obscure archaeological mysteries in the world. It has fascinated scientists for decades, including mathematician Maria Reiche, who has devoted a lifetime of research to discovering its secrets.
The puzzle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, remains the main tourist attraction of the small town of Nazca. Situated in a relatively small area,it is composed of 800 straight lines, 300 geometric figures, and more than 70 spectacular drawings of plants and animals, invisible from the ground. You have to fly over it to see its gigantic network of stylised forms.
An alternative is to have someone drive you to the observation viewpoint on the Panamericana Sur, from where you can discern the perfection of the lizard, tree, and frog… But who, why, and how? These questions remain unanswered.
