The Empire State Building: a landmark New York skyscraper

The Empire State Building is considered one of the seven wonders of the modern world by the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Built in Art Deco style, the 102-storey Empire State Building, at a height of 381 metres (443 metres with the antenna), was the tallest building in the world for 40 years. Since its inauguration in 1931, nearly 100 million visitors have marvelled at its breath-taking view, high above the skyline. The two observation decks on the 86th and 102nd floor let you see all around New York.

Sunset is the best time for a visit, but whatever time you choose to go you will need to be patient. An online booking is highly recommended to avoid the worst queues, but you can also pay for an ‘Express Pass', which will give you priority access. The top of the building is lit differently at nightfall depending on which major celebration is on, from the 4th of July to the New York City Marathon.
