The capital's 21st-century chapel of art

art & culture

The brainchild of Bernard Arnault, chairman of LVMH, the Louis Vuitton Foundation stands out as a magnificently elevated building; it opened in 2014.

One discerns the 12 glass sails of the Louis Vuitton Foundation from the outskirts of the Bois de Boulogne, their 13,500-square-metre surface area inflated by the winds of technological prowess.

Frank Gehry, the architect of the foundation, whose mandate is to promote creativity, readily spans art and culture. Gehry's bold vessel, with its endless corridors, is one of the most iconic buildings of the 21st century. The world's top luxury group, LVMH, deploys its contemporary art collection and thematic exhibitions here.

There is also a 1,000-seat auditorium for concerts and performances, and Franck restaurant, with its wonderful ceiling of fish and starred chef Jean-Louis Nomicos' menu, which changes throughout the day.
