The Botanical Garden: cultivation and culture

A perfect place to stroll in any season, the Botanical Garden showcases plant abundance in all its glory.

The Conservatory and Botanical Garden is a garden of paradise that dates back to 1904. It extends over an area of 28 hectares close to Lake Geneva and the UN. It is home to 14,000 varieties from around the world. Winding paths, lush and colourful, take the flâneur from one thematic area to another—from rock to massifs of protected plants, medicinal plants, and palm trees.

This outdoor museum is both educational and enchanting. Filled with plants of all shapes and scents, as well as animals and insects, the Botanical Garden makes your senses come alive.

Founded by the famous botanist Augustin Pyramus de Candolle in what is now Bastions Park in 1817, the Botanical Garden retains the same naturalist spirit that prevailed in the 19th century.
