Prague's most beautiful Baroque church, Saint Nicolas, is only 200 metres from the tiny alleyway in the Malá Strana neighbourhood where the Augustine is hidden. The hotel is named after the 13th-century monastery that previously stood on the location.
The establishment, created by London design firm RDD and hotelier Olga Polizzi, mixes eras to great effect. Carefully tended gardens and brick alcoves pair beautifully with clean-lined contemporary furnishings. Touches of moss green and burnt orange bring particular personality to the 85 rooms and 16 suites.
The terrace offers panoramic views of Prague. With the only spa in the world listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, an elegant restaurant overlooking the courtyard, and its own beer created by monks at the St. Thomas Bar, the Augustine is one of the most in-demand hotels in Prague.
