Staying with Lenin at the Hotel National

luxury

This historic jewel across from the Kremlin was confiscated by the government, which controlled it until 1995. Sold by the city in 2011, the Hotel National shines brilliantly once again.

Staying at the Hotel National, just minutes from the Kremlin, puts you in the company of a prestigious group who've also stayed here. The group includes international dignitaries, politicians Lenin stayed in rooms 101 and 115 and celebrities.

Since its founding in 1903, the National has been the crème de la crème of Moscow hotels, due in great part to its architect, the famous Alexander Ivanov. The hotel has refined interiors decorated with white marble, neoclassical chairs, frescoed ceilings, and priceless Russian antiques. A spirit of 19th century inspiration reigns today in the 201 red-and-gold rooms decorated with works of art and fine fabrics, and enhanced by unique views of the city.

At Piazza Rossa restaurant, the cuisine, like the chandeliers, is Italian, as revisited by chef Cristiano Andreini. Stretch out the evening with drinks in the refined Alexandrovsky bar, with its red velvet banquettes, chandeliers, and gold wallpaper.
