The Casino Carrasco was opened in 1921 by Gaston Mallet and Jacques Dunant. To return it to its former glory, it was completely renovated in 2013 by a restoration school from Havana. Located on the Rambla, in the Carrasco neighbourhood, its garden was designed in the 19th century by the French landscaper Carlos Thais. It has hosted countless celebrities and dignitaries, including Federico García Lorca and Albert Einstein.
The 116 rooms, including 23 suites overlooking the Rio de la Plata, harmoniously blend local heritage the red colour used is the same as the red of the national tree, the Ceibo with leather and Belle Époque decorative touches.
There is a rich range of products laid out for you in the very lavish bathrooms. Sunday brunch in the Art Nouveau-styled restaurant has a decidedly French feel to it, with delicious croissants, cheeses, and coffee on offer.
