From one French city to another, this exhibition will flower in Pont-Aven, the magical “city of painters” filled with stone washers and water mills.
“The Rouarts, from impressionism to magical realism” evokes the portrait of a family, intellectuals, painters and collectors, who have left their mark in the history of impressionism.
It all started with Henri Rouart, student of Corot and friend of Degas.
His fourth son, Ernest Rouart, carried on his legacy as a lone student of Degas and patron of the arts.
Finally, the exhibition will showcase the work of Augustin, one of Henri's grandsons, who will get away from impressionism and whose own son, Jean-Marie Rouart, described his style in the following words: “We could talk about magical realism. He was tempted to dwell into the magical, which paintings like Lagrimas y penas, Le Petit Pêcheur and Le Nageur illustrate.”
