Rodeo Drive: Beverly Hills' shopping mecca

It's hard to imagine that this chic avenue was once an ordinary, dusty road leading to the Rodeo de las Aguas ranch.

After a serious revamp in the 1970s, this Beverly Hills street became world famous for its concentration of prestigious brands. This is, after all, where actress Julia Roberts went shopping in Pretty Woman. The glittering shop windows of luxury houses like Dior, Chanel, Tiffany, Vuitton, Armani, Cartier, and many others are all here, a universe inaccessible to ordinary mortals. Chauffeur-driven limousines silently and continuously discharge ladies in stilettos and eccentric millionaires onto the sidewalk. Don't miss the immaculate architecture of the facades, majestic palm trees waving against a turquoise sky, and the occasional murmur of a fountain. Do not expect to come across any celebrities, though, as they tend to use the private entrances to these legendary boutiques.
