Refuge des Oulettes: sleeping in the mountains

exceptional

Summer and winter, you cannot miss it. Although anchored to its granite promontory, it sympathetically watches out for weary and hungry travellers.

Sleeping in a shelter is an experience that you must live once in your life. The people from Pau, Tarbes, and Lourdes do so regularly because they like weekend excursions to the G1.

So they spend the night in this refuge, which has one of the most beautiful views imaginable on to the north side of the Vignemale massif, the Piton Carre, the l'Aiguille des Glacier, and the Brèche de Chausenque. You do not need to be an experienced hiker to get there. You can easily access it via the Gaube Valley from Pont d'Espagne. Of course, you will sleep comfortably, though roughing it a bit, in a dormitory.

This will give you the opportunity to make conversation with people from the region and learn more about it. In season, both breakfast and a hearty dinner are served.
