Plaza Hotel Lucchesi: an old family pension from the 1920s

charm

Not far from the picture-postcard view displayed on its website, this hotel delivers a modern version of Belle Epoque comfort.

The past itself is part of the beautiful view from the stately staircase leading to the rooms… the happy times of the Roaring Twenties, when it was still possible to take a dip in the Arno, and such luxuries as central heating and running water were new to the area. Dream once more about times past and find, in each of the 87 rooms and 10 suites overlooking the Arno, the hill of San Miniato al Monte, Piazzale Michelangelo and the red roofs of the city centre, a bit of the casualness that is still so much a part of Florence. Relax on the roof of the Plaza Hotel Lucchini in one of the two pools or at the bar, which are open from 9:00 a.m. until midnight. Situated on the right bank of the river, between Piazza Santa Croce and Piazza Michelangino, you would be hard-pressed to find a better location. The four-star service is outstanding.
