Picasso Sculptures – finally in Paris

Published on 02-28-2016 Agenda

More than 160 Picasso sculptures have been brought together at the Picasso Museum, fruit of the partnership between this French institution and New York's Museum of Modern Art.

The ‘Picasso Sculpture' retrospective, presented at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York in collaboration with the Musée National Picasso, Paris, from autumn 2015 to February 2016, finally comes to Paris. These two institutions own many of the master's sculptures. Enriched with over 70 exceptional loans from around the world, this exhibition reveals a relatively unknown aspect of the Picasso sculpture: its multiple dimensions based on the carved originals. Series, variations, casts, prints, enlargements, paper maquettes, and sheet metal and engraved concrete enlargements reveal the creative process. All of this is highlighted by a chronological and thematic presentation, decorated with drawings and paintings by Picasso.
