Perfume Library, Kama Ayurveda, Gulab Singh Johrimal: multiple scents

Pasolini's famous ‘scent of India,' can be understood through an olfactory journey through three stores.

An homage to the talented writer and film director, Pier Paolo Pasolini, who, in the 1960s, roamed the country with his friend Moravia and captured their travels in a literary masterpiece called The Scent of India.

After this journey through three ‘sensational' addresses, you too will be enveloped, captured, and intoxicated by this scent of India. The first stop is at the rare and exclusive Perfume Library. Nearly 3,000 years of the history of fragrances are told through these scents concocted by designer Jahnvi Damaran Nadam. The second stop is at Kama Ayurveda, the temple of essences of flowers, plants, and spices that come in creams, balms, and massage oils.

As for Gulab Singh Johrimal in Old Delhi, this third store claims to be the oldest fragrance merchant in India: it has sold attar (‘fragrance' in Hindi), as well as incense and soaps, since 1816.
