Oulja craft complex

If you like authentic objects that are neither kitsch nor folk, but ethno-bobo, you'll love the pottery of Salé.

From the centre of Rabat, it takes about ten minutes by taxi to get to this place, which brings together a number of crafts workshops. Here, there are no tour buses in the parking lot, no crowds of tourists, no fake trinkets. You are happily among authentic craftsmen creating pottery and wrought iron.

Each potter exhibits and sells his or her own creations, which are very numerous. Vases, plates, dishes of all sizes, painted in sky, sand, and earth tones. It's difficult to resist these original works, so don't be surprised when you find yourself leaving with your hands full. Each piece is always well packaged and will resist the dangers of transport. You can also order custom-made pieces, but you will have to come and collect your purchases. At the rear of the shops are the workshops. You can see the craftsmen dexterously work and shape these beautiful objects. Blacksmiths create garden furniture, tables, chairs, and armchairs that will give you ideas you didn't suspect you had. Their rates are well worth the bother of arranging shipment, provided you have someone local there to follow through.
