Monteiths: the colours of Scotland

traditional

Just steps from the Royal Mile, this charming restaurant-lounge with romantic lighting is the perfect setting for lunch or dinner, or simply for a drink.

At the end of a dead-end street, down a poetic path illuminated by a multitudes of lights, and hidden under lovely hanging vines—the entrance to this spot is as magical as the candlelit atmosphere inside. The blue, green, and burgundy walls are adorned with hunting trophies. There are tartan lamps, distressed-leather club chairs, and a menu that fits the decor: classic, local, and exquisite. The lunch dishes are simple and fabulous; try the famous haggis, for example, or the fish and chips. The evening menu is more refined: seafood, fresh fish, and excellent beef and lamb. On weekends, the atmosphere is festive and the music trendy.
