The place is well known by surfers for its waves, but little frequented by tourists who prefer to linger on the nearby beaches of downtown Rio. The small restaurant is located right at the edge of the beach, the tables set in the sand with no fuss, and simply covered with red and white chequered tablecloths. The specialty here is grilled fish, prepared on the red brick barbecue installed a little away from the seafront, but be warned, the dishes are prepared according to the catch of the day, so it is better to arrive early. Besides the fish, which is usually accompanied by rice, fries and a small fresh salad, you can taste the ‘pastel', a typically Brazilian stuffed pastry topped with a choice of cheese or grilled shrimp. Everything is delicious, the setting is superb, so get there as soon as you can.
