The Lightbox is the name of the building where the activities of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) are grouped. The festival takes place in September every year, but, unlike other festivals, it lives outside its two-week event span for…12 months. It features a host of activities for moviegoers, with multiple thematic retrospectives, exhibitions, and smaller events, like the Children's Film Festival (TIFF Kids International Film Festival), or one for teens called TIFF Next Wave Film Festival. Not to mention Canada's Top Ten Film Festival and the Human Rights Watch Film Festival.
Spread over five floors at the corner of King and John streets, this complex is in the heart of the entertainment district. It contains a huge three-story atrium, five screening rooms, two exhibition galleries, three learning studios, a student centre, a restaurant, a bistro, a gift shop, and a rooftop terrace which all celebrate the seventh art. In short, it is a mega film library that screens major films of cinematic history all day long.
