The grandson of the founder of the Parisian bistro, Gourmets des Ternes, wanted to replicate the authentic cuisine that has made the reputation of his grandfather's restaurant in Paris since 1962. After opening a branch in Knightsbridge, the family business has expanded here to Formosa Street.
If the menu is not exactly the same, the quality and style are. A red and grey awning and a French team welcome you in a pretty alley near Little Venice. Here, there is no culinary revolution but rather a successful traditional cuisine: depending on the season, you'll find white asparagus, snails in garlic, andouillette or a nice veal cutlet with cream.
Of course, a cheese platter is available, a creamy chocolate mousse or a perfectly executed crème brûlée. The atmosphere is as convivial as in Paris, and is especially charming when professionals or amateurs sit at the 1896 piano to entertain the other guests.
