The setting: the Basque coast and its legendary waves at Biarritz. Surfboard in hand, staring at the ocean, you tuck into breakfast at Le Surfing.
The favourite hangout for surfers, Le Surfing rides a nouvelle vague of Californian vintage. Surfboards cover the ceiling. Surf posters in retro colours cover the walls. All year round, the view of the waves and the sunrise from the beachfront terrace is astonishing.
Lunch and dinner menus are à la carte, with planches to share: charcuterie, Basque cheese or a Mexican special, and the Mister Surfing burger (cheddar, caramelised onions, mesclun, tomato confit and bbq sauce). More classic fare includes salmon ceviche, sushi, fish and chips with tartar sauce, and beef tataki with herbs, kamikaze salad and mashed sweet potatoes.
