Lau Pa Sat Market: a concentration of culinary traditions

This pavilion nestled in the heart of the financial district offers an authentic dining experience.

There is a special atmosphere here that bubbles with energy and tradition. Also known as the ‘Telor Ayer Market', the Lau Pa Sat market (literally ‘Old Market'), founded in the 19th century, recently renovated, and a national monument since 1973, is a masterpiece of colonial architecture. The octagonal Victorian metal structure houses a traditional atmosphere, where fragrances and flavours blend to make it the epitome of Singaporean culture. One of the few historic buildings in the heart of the financial district of the city, it is a rallying point for tourists and locals.

Try culinary specialties like satay chicken or beef skewers with peanut sauce, or a slightly spicy crab chilli. Lau Pa Sat also has an impressive variety of fresh fish and seafood. The Chinese dim sum dishes are superb, as are the Indian naan.

Free concerts are held at night and on weekends.
